Checking Hard Drive Error 770 Dish 512

Postby wszumera » Sun Sep 13, 2015 3:08 pm

I've been getting a checking hard drive error randomly. It comes after the video freezes. The code in the corner is 770 and the receiver is a 512.

It would seem that a modern drive should trap errors and map in spare sectors as ecc fails. Is this a sign that my fairly new dish dvr has a flaky disk? What does 770 indicate.

Thanks,

Szumi

The 770 message appears after the nightly update occurs, and also when there are hard drive errors that can be repaired. Let's get this checked out. Have you reset the receiver yet?

What do you mean by 'reset'?

FWIW, I have updates set to take place at 3pm and when the warning message came up I selected cancel today as I was home and watching a program.

Thanks,

By reset I am referring to unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds then plugging it back in. Some receivers also have a 'reset' button on the front you can use.

Yes, it has been reset many times. Just did the 770 thing again while I was watching a show. It is getting annoying as the whole process takes 15 minutes.

Sounds like your receiver may need to be replaced. Please send me a private message with your account or phone number and the 4 digit security code you created.
